Medical Insurance Plans Are Critical For Everyone In The US

Many insurance purchases are thought to be grudge buys, however you may look at it medical coverage plans are an absolute essential. The recession has hit the U.S. really hard and unemployment is high. Retirement accounts are hardly worth the paper they are wrote on and households are being foreclosed upon.

The market values of houses have dropped to all time lows, people no longer have equity in their homes and bankruptcies are at an all time high. These have increased by 34.5% in comparison to the same period last year.

What is even more surprising is the fact that the American Journal of Medicine has published outcomes from a study taken by Harvard Medical School and the Cambridge Hospital, which says almost flatly that high medical costs have been the reason why numerous people have had to file for bankruptcy. We have also saw it mentioned that several individuals losing their homes to foreclosure have been laid low by illness and extensive medical charges.

Enter another two schools into the fray, Ohio and Harvard Law School! These schools have set up research which categorically states 60% of bankruptcy recordings in 2007 were caused by individuals being unable to afford to pay bills for medical treatment. It is already tough enough that the price of medical treatment is so high, but for people to have been brought so low by it is an even larger curse.

These figures are on the upswing now, and the more medical woesindividuals have, the more bankruptcies and foreclosure filings are taking place. A random sample of bankruptcy filers were questioned, this was a national survey and the test sample used was 2,316. Each of the court dockets was considered and it was determined that many bankruptcies were “medical” based. Of the test group, people were also personally questioned and figures were compared against 2001 figures.

These medical circumstances have even driven middle class Americans into bankruptcy even when they have had medical coverage. This means that several families have been under insured and this trend is on the increase. The aftermath of a tough sickness means they are left with medical bills in the thousands of dollars which is not covered by their health coverage.

Of the people who have been declared medically bankrupt the general individual still owed $17,000 for medical bills, and these were the insured group. People who were uninsured and claimed medical bankruptcy owed and average of almost $29,000 in out-of-pocket medical bills.

Health coverage is related to employment and vice versa, so when a person becomes ill they may lose both their policy and their line of work. This is a serious trouble and it is something we should all be worried about.

Nowadays it is very tough to find the most affordable health coverage, if you would like more assistance in this matter then you should stop by the authors webpage which explains medical insurance plans information.
